Research: Testing and Evaluation
NML is committed to the proposition that reported test results should predict how a material will act in the field. The USGA's recommended specifications for root zone mixes and drainage materials remain the foundation for all the analysis of the materials used to construct putting greens. The recommended specifications have become the foundation for athletic fields and they are often used to evaluate golf tees and other root zone mixes such as those used for parks. Anyone familiar with the specifications understand that a wide variety of mixes will comply with the parameters. Not all will be suitable for a project's intended purpose.
Our research is often conducted in conjunction with our sister company, ISTRC. Through field work and constant testing, the two companies are constantly expanding their knowledge with respect to how material react under field conditions. Bunker research, for instance, was undertaken to develop guidelines to correlate lab results to performance in the field.
